HL Deb 18 December 1920 vol 39 c565

Order of the Day for the consideration of the Commons Amendments, read.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR (LORD BIRKENHEAD)

My Lords, in moving that your Lordships consider these Amendments I may point out that this Bill, after a somewhat controversial course in both Houses, has now come before your Lordships in the form in which it left this House. Amendments inserted by a Committee of the House of Commons were rejected by the House of Commons as a whole. I may express the hope, as we are parting with the Bill, that some of the magistrates in London will now be able to return to their judicial duties and not think it necessary to make further comments on that which Parliament has decided.

Moved, That the Commons Amendments be now considered. (The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
