HL Deb 09 December 1920 vol 39 c15

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

VISCOUNT SANDHURST

My Lords, this is one of a small body of Bills of which, at my instance, your Lordships have passed many in the last few years. As your Lordships know, trustees wishing to vary their trusts have to ask for a scheme, and if the scheme of the Charity Commissioners should be outside the powers under their jurisdiction they have to come to Parliament to endorse their action. This Bill and the other two have all found their places in the Report which the Charity Commissioners have submitted to His Majesty, and no objections have been raised. I beg to move.

Moved, That the Rill be now read 2a.—(Viscount Sandhurst.)

On Question, Bill read 2a, and committed to a Committee of the Whole House.
