HL Deb 23 October 1919 vol 37 c40

LORD HARRIS had the following Question on the Paper—

To ask His Majesty's Government whether it is the case that Territorial officers in India are being paid for their war bonus and war gratuity 10 rupees to the£ whilst the men for their war bonus are being paid at the rate of 16 rupees to the £; and, if so, what is the justification for this difference.

The noble Lord said: My Lords, I understand that the noble Lord below me (Lord Sinha) would prefer that I should not put this Question at present, because it is under discussion with the Government of India, and he may be able to give me an answer later on. I therefore will not put the Question to-night.
