After Clause 5 I beg to move the insertion of a new clause. It merely provides for the payment of an annuity from the husband to the wife in terms that have been agreed.

Amendment moved—

After Clause 5 insert as a new clause: .—(1) The said George Fitzroy Cavendish Clarke shall during the joint lives of himself and the said Florence Jean Cavendish Clarke pay to the said Florence Jean Cavendish Clarke until she re-marry solely for the purpose of her maintenance and support an annuity of Seventy-eight pounds free of income tax by equal quarterly instalments as hereinafter provided. The said annuity shall cease and determine if the said Florence Jean Cavendish Clarke do not continue to lead a chaste life. (2) The instalments of the said annuity shall be payable quarterly into her proper hands and on her personal receipt the first payment to be made three months after the passing of this Act and thenceforth at intervals of three calendar months. Provided always that three days prior to the date for payment of each instalment the said Florence Jean Cavendish Clarke shall communicate her place of abode and residence to the said George Fitzroy Cavendish Clarke or his agents duly authorised in that behalf and if the said Florence Jean Cavendish Clarke neglect to disclose her residence the said George Fitzroy Cavendish Clarke and his agents may postpone payment of the sum then payable until the said condition shall have been complied with."—(Lord Buckmaster.)
