§ MESSAGE FROM THE SPANISH SENATE.
§ THE LORD CHANCELLOR (LORD BIRKENHEAD)My Lords, I have to announce that I have received for transmission to your Lordships' House the following. Message from the Spanish Senate—
"The Spanish Senate, on the proposal of the President, agreed the day before yesterday under general approval—firstly, that the Upper House has heard with satisfaction that the war has been terminated by the signing of the Treaty of Versailles; secondly, that the satisfaction of the Upper House and their congratulations on the termination of the war be conveyed to the representatives of analogous or similar Chambers of the countries which constitute the Allied and Associated Powers."
In conformity with precedent on such occasions I have taken upon myself, on your Lordships' behalf, to direct that a suitable reply be sent to the Spanish Senate.
