HL Deb 18 November 1918 vol 32 c158
THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (EARL CURZON OF KEDLESTON)

My Lords, I beg to make the Motion standing in my name.

Moved, That Standing Order No. XXXIX be considered in order to its being suspended for the remainder of the session.—(Earl Curzon of Kedleston.)

THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY

Can the noble Earl tell us on what day the Prorogation is likely to be?

EARL CURZON OF KEDLESTON

We hope to get the Prorogation of Parliament on Thursday next.

THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY

The reason I ventured to put the question was that your Lordships expressed the opinion that we ought not to suspend the Standing Order except with an immediate Prorogation in view, and that it would be more in accord with precedent that the day of the Prorogation should be known before the Order was suspended. The noble Earl thinks that it will be on Thursday, and I shall not offer any opposition to the Motion.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
