HL Deb 06 March 1918 vol 29 c249

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

VISCOUNT GALWAY

Before your Lordships read this Bill a second time, may I ask the noble Earl whether it in any way affects the status and constitution of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem.

THE ACTING CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES (THE EARL OF KINTORE)

In reply to the noble Viscount, I have to say that the Bill is to enable the British Red Cross Society and the Grand Priory of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem in England to apply to the public advantage the residue of their property acquired for the purposes of the present war.

On Question, Bill read 2a, and committed.
