THE EARL OF CRAWFORDMy Lords it is proposed that on Thursday next the House should meet at 3.30 p.m., instead of the normal time, as a considerable number of your Lordships desire to take part in the adjourned debate on Irish affairs. I also wish to give notice that on Thursday I propose to move the suspension of Standing Order No. XXXIX in 381 relation to the Defence of the Realm (Beans, Peas and Pulse Orders) Bill, which has been read a second time this afternoon. I find that there is to be a Royal Commission on Thursday evening, and it would be an immense convenience if this Bill could receive the Royal Assent then. Practically the whole procedure under the Bill is already arranged. Arbitrators have been appointed, particulars are prepared, and as it is not anticipated that any Amendment will be required to the Bill I hope I may get it through on Thursday and not occupy more 382 than a few minutes or impinge on the time for the Irish debate which is to follow.
