HL Deb 25 April 1918 vol 29 c870
THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (EARL CURZON OF KEDLESTON)

My Lords, I beg to move that the House do now adjourn.

VISCOUNT HALDANE

Upon that Motion, may I say that many of us are interested in the debate which was to have taken place on Lord Sydenham's Question regarding the Air Board.* Can the Leader of the House say what course is to be taken with regard to that Question?

EARL CURZON OF KEDLESTON

There had been an idea of asking the House to meet on Monday, in order that there might be a discussion upon this Question at the same time as there was a discussion on the tame subject in the House of Commons, but an announcement has been made in the Press this afternoon as to the resignation of the Secretary of State, for the Royal Air Force which puts a somewhat different complexion upon affairs. In these circumstances I feel that I have no right myself to ask the House to meet on Monday next for this debate; and in the absence of Lord Sydenharn, with whom I have been endeavouring without success to get into communication and who volunteered to postpone his Question until Monday or Tuesday of next week, my suggestion is that the Question should be put down for Tuesday, and then it will rest with Lord Sydenham or any other noble Lord to pursue this matter if so desired.

VISCOUNT HALDANE

I have myself put down a Question for Tuesday, of which I have told the noble Earl privately, and which I think will fit in with his announcement.
