HL Deb 26 July 1917 vol 26 cc75-6
THE EARL OF CRAWFORD

My Lords, it has been suggested that the discussion on the meat aspect of the food question should be resumed at a later date. The noble Earl (Lord Selborne) has a Motion on the Paper for Wednesday next to call attention to the alleged sale of honours. It is possible that your Lordships will adjourn on that day until August 14. Therefore if we wish a special debate on the meat question, I suggest that we should take it on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week; otherwise it will have to be postponed for a further ten days, and perhaps longer. Might I suggest to the noble Earl that he should put down a Question framed in general terms for Tuesday or Wednesday next?

THE EARL OF SELBORNE

One of my noble friends is going to put down a Notice. However, I do not think it would be any use putting it down for Wednesday next, as that day will be fully occupied, I take it, with the Motion of which I have given notice. I am not entitled to speak for Lord Crewe, but as he left the House he told me that he thought Thursday next would be a convenient day for this other Motion.

THE EARL OF CRAWFORD

We had better leave it open until Tuesday next and then see what can be arranged.

House adjourned at ten minutes past sis o'clock, to Tuesday next, a quarter past four o'clock.
