HL Deb 20 December 1917 vol 27 cc305-6

Returned from the Commons, agreed to, with an Amendment.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR (LORD FINLAY)

My Lords, an Amendment has been made in the Commons to this Bill in the following terms— The said James Matthew Marmaduke Parker shall pay the costs of the said Lilian Margaret Aurora Parker of promoting this Bill when taxed and ascertained. This is the addition of a clause providing that the husband shall pay the costs of the wife in obtaining the divorce. It seems to be a reasonable Amendment. There is precedent for such a clause, and I move that the Amendment be agreed to.

Moved, That this House do agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.

House adjourned during pleasure.

House resumed.
