HL Deb 23 May 1916 vol 22 c71

Order of the Day for the House to be put into Committee, read.

Moved, That the House do now resolve itself into Committee.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.

House in Committee accordingly.

[LORD BALFOUR OF BURLEIGH in the Chair.]

LORD WRENBURY

My Lords, when this Bill was recently before your Lordships' House sitting in a Judicial capacity I was asked by my noble and learned friends who were sitting with me to look into the variations of the settlement which the parties proposed. I have done so, and the parties have agreed as to the variations of the settlement, and also to an Amendment as regards the access of the husband to the children of the marriage. The Amendments which I have to move are agreed to between the parties, and are simply to give effect to the variations in the settlement, which will enable a great many of the recitals in the Bill to be struck out; and there are also drafting Amendments.

Moved, That the Amendments be agreed to.—(Lord Wrenbury.)

On Question, Amendments agreed to.

The Report of Amendments to be received To-morrow.
