§ VISCOUNT PEELMy Lords, I beg to ask His Majesty's Government whether reports are received monthly of the output of coal in the collieries of the United Kingdom, and whether there is any objection to the monthly publication of these reports.
§ LORD STANMOREMy Lords, the great majority of the pits report their output to the Board of Trade at intervals of a fortnight, and tables are then compiled 311 for Departmental use covering periods of four or five weeks which are made to correspond as far as possible with the calendar months. Only a quarterly return has been published, as this has appeared sufficient for public purposes; but more detailed information is available for those to whom it is of really important service.
