HL Deb 13 April 1916 vol 21 c744
VISCOUNT MIDLETON

Can the noble Marquess make any statement as to the period of the adjournment for the Easter recess?

THE MARQUESS OF CREWE

There is a prospect, as I understand, that the House may be able to rise on Wednesday next. In that case we should, I take it, adjourn until the Wednesday fortnight, May 3. In view of the important Motion which stands on the Paper for Tuesday next in the name of Lord Milner, it is desirable that we should sit on Monday in order to clear off the Bills which are before the House, because, as your Lordships know, in ordinary circumstances they would take precedence of a Motion or a Question appearing on the Paper for a Tuesday.

House adjourned at twenty minutes before Seven o'clock, to Monday next, a quarter past Four o'clock.
