HL Deb 21 July 1915 vol 19 cc577-8

Order of the Day for the House to be put into Committee, read.

THE MARQUESS OF CREWE

My Lords, in making this Motion I hope the House will agree, besides taking the Committee Stage of this Bill, to take also the remaining stages. The Bill was started in this House, and it is desirable that it should go down to be considered in another place as soon as possible. Your Lordships will remember that yesterday when I moved the Second Reading my noble friend Lord Balfour of Burleigh, who, as Chancellor of one of the Universities, may be regarded as the prime authority on the Scottish Universities in this House, gave it his benediction, and I hope your Lordships will consent to pass it.

House in Committee (according to Order).

Bill reported without amendment: Then (Standing Order No. XXXIX having been suspended): Bill read 3a, and passed, and sent to the Commons.
