§ THE EARL OF DERBYMay I ask the noble Lord who represents the War Office whether he can tell us when we may expect the publication of Sir John French's Despatches? It is common knowledge that they have been for some considerable time in this country, and I do not think the delay in publishing them is quite understood. I should also like to know whether there is to be an Honours List published simultaneously with the Despatches.
§ THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (EARL BEAUCHAMP)The noble Earl will be the first to realise that, not having had notice of this Question, I am unable to commit my noble and gallant friend the Secretary of State for War by giving an answer. I understand, however, that there is reason to believe that a Despatch will very soon be published. Beyond that I am afraid I cannot give the noble Earl any assurance.
