HL Deb 27 August 1914 vol 17 cc545-6

Brought from the Commons.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 1ª.—(Earl Beauchamp.)

On Question; Bill read 1ª, and to be printed.

THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (EARL BEAUCHAMP)

My Lords, this is a Bill to enable certificated teachers to reckon service in connection with the present war as recorded service for the purpose of the Acts relating to elementary school teachers' superannuation. Your Lordships have already passed a similar measure applying to Scotland; this Bill is intended to apply to England only. In these circumstances it is unnecessary for me to say anything more, except to assure the noble Earl below the Gangway (Lord Camper-down) that although, unfortunately, it was not possible to have this Bill circulated, copies of it have been lying on the Table of the House during the sittings of yesterday and to-day.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2ª.—(Earl Beauchamp.)

On Question (Standing Order No. XXXIX having been suspended), Bill read 2ª: Committee negatived: Bill read 3ª, and passed. (No. 261.)

BLYTH HALL (TRANSFER) ORDER CONFIRMATION BILL. (No. 271.)

COATBRIDGE DRAINAGE AND BURGH EXTENSION CRUDER CONFIRMATION BILL (No. 272.)

DUMBARTON BURGH (WATER, &c.) ORDER CONFIRMATION BILL. (No. 273.)

NORTH BRITISH RAILWAY (INVERGARRY AND FORT AUGUSTUS RAILWAY VESTING) ORDER CONFIRMATION BILL. (No. 274.)

Brought from the Commons; read 1ª; to be printed; and (pursuant to the Private Legislation Procedure (Scotland) Act, 1899), deemed to have een read 2ª (The Lord Emmott), and reported from the Committee: Then (Standing Order No. XXXIX having been suspended) Bills read 3ª, and passed.
