THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF AGRICULTURE AND FISHERIES (LORD LUCAS)

My Lords, I beg to introduce a Bill to authorise the regulation and restriction of the slaughter of animals used for food, and to move that it be read a first time. I propose to put it down for Second Reading to-morrow, and as it is an urgent Bill I shall ask your Lordships to allow it to pass through all its remaining stages on that day. By to-morrow the Bill will be printed, so that your Lordships will be able to see its text.
