HL Deb 07 August 1914 vol 17 c468
THE EARL OF DUNRAVEN

My Lords, I beg to ask whether any steps have been taken, or are in contemplation, with a view to giving the military status to the Volunteers in Ireland.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, I have been in consultation with Lord Kitchener about this question, and I have his authority for informing your Lordships that he attaches much importance to the point which the noble Earl has raised. He has it under sympathetic consideration, and before long he hopes to be able to make some announcement on the subject.
