Commons Amendments.

Clause 2, page 2, line 33, at the beginning of the line insert ("in the case of a woman who was a British subject previously to her marriage to an alien, and whose husband has died or whose marriage has been dissolved, the requirements of this section as to residence shall not apply and") and after ("any") insert ("other").

Clause 10, page 5, line 12, after ("alien") insert ("Provided that where a man ceases during the continuance of his marriage to be a British subject it shall be lawful for his wife to make a declaration that she desires to retain British nationality, and thereupon she shall be deemed to remain a British subject").

Clause 19, page 7, line 30, after ("resumption") insert ("or retention")

Clause 19, Page 8, line 26, after ("oath") insert ("Provided that in the case of a woman who was a British subject previously to her marriage to an alien, and whose husband has died or whose marriage has been dissolved, the fee for the grant of a certificate shall not exceed five shilling").

In the schedules, page 11, Second Schedule, line 14, leave out ("So help me GOD").

My Lords, I have made inquiries, and I can hear of no objection to the Amendments that have been put into this Bill in another place. Although I shall be perfectly ready, should any noble Lord so desire, to explain the Amendments in detail, I propose for the general convenience of the House—if it is, indeed, for its general convenience—to move that the Commons Amendments be agreed to.
