HL Deb 06 November 1911 vol 10 c92

[SECOND READING.]

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

THE FIRST COMMISSIONER OF WORKS (EARL BEAUCHAMP)

My Lords, this is a small measure which has been treated as non-controversial in another place, and I hope your Lordships will give it a Second Reading without any lengthy discussion. The four clauses of which it consists do not deal with the same subject; they are intended to deal with certain small difficulties which have arisen in the administration of the Education Acts, and it has been thought more convenient to cure these four small defects in one single Bill. Therefore it might, I think, be more convenient, as the clauses have no reference to each other, to deal with them in the Committee stage, should any of your Lordships desire to do so, rather than on the present occasion.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.— (Earl Beauchamp)

On Question, Bill read 2a, and committed to a Committee of the Whole House To-morrow.
