HL Deb 09 March 1911 vol 7 cc375-6
THE CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES (LORD BALFOUR OF BURLEIGH)

My Lords, a Notice appears on the Paper in my name with regard to the proposal to have a Joint Committee upon the Metropolitan Water Board (New Works) Bill, which is a Bill that originated in this House. There will have to be associated with that, if the whole inquiry is to be conducted together, a Bill which originates in the other House of Parliament, and messages for that purpose will have to be exchanged between the Houses to see whether both Houses agree. I intended to move this Motion to-day, and I do not propose to depart from it. I do not, however, move it to-day, but I shall move it on Monday. The reason why I postpone it is that a noble Lord most courteously gave me notice that he proposed to move an addition, and I think it would be more convenient to your Lordships to see that addition in print before the discussion takes place. Therefore, while I in no way depart from the Notice on the Paper, I ask your Lordships to allow me to postpone it till next Monday.
