§ THE LORD CHANCELLOR (LORD LOREBURN)I move to amend Clause 18 (Appointment of assistant Judges) by adding words enabling the appointments to be made in Lancaster by the Chancellor of the Duchy. In the County of Lancaster the appointments are made by the Chancellor of the Duchy, but it is for the Lord Chancellor to decide whether the state of business requires additional assistance. 724 The clause as printed in the Bill already contains the words, but they have been inserted in error. Therefore the proper course is now for me to move them formally in order that they may lawfully form part of the Bill.
