My Lords, I understand that it is not possible to go on with the business which was put down for this hour. I have heard to that effect from the noble Marquess who leads the Opposition, and I beg to move that this House do now adjourn until half-past four o'clock this afternoon, and then take the business which is now on the Order Paper.

On Question, Motion agreed to.

Third Reading put off till the sitting of the House at half-past Four o'clock.

The sitting was resumed at half-past four, the LORD CHANCELLOR then taking his seat on the Woolsack.
