His Majesty's answer to the Address of Thursday last delivered by the Lord Steward (E. Chesterfield), and read as follows— I have received your Address; and, relying on the wisdom of My Parliament, I desire that My Prerogative and Powers, in so far as they relate to the Creation of Peerages and to the issue of Writs of Summons to Lords Spiritual and Temporal to attend and sit and vote in the House of Lords, should not stand in the way of the consideration by Parliament of any measure that may be introduced in the present Session on the subject of the constitution of the House of Lords.
