HL Deb 14 July 1910 vol 6 cc211-2
THE EARL OF CREWE

My Lords, in making the Motion which stands in my name I am sure I shall be expressing the feeling of all your Lordships in stating the regret which I feel that the noble Earl the Chairman of Committees has been ordered, under medical advice, to go abroad before the end of the session. We all hope he will return entirely restored to carry on his important and arduous duties. In the meantime we shall all be pleased to think that those duties are entrusted to one so competent and so experienced as the noble Lord who sits opposite.

Moved, That the Lord Balfour be appointed to take the Chair in all Committees of this House for the remainder of this session in the absence of the Earl of Onslow; that the Lord Balfour do take the Chair in all Committees of the Whole House unless where it shall have been otherwise directed by the House; that the Lord Balfour do also take the Chair in all Committees upon Private Bills and other matters unless where it shall have been otherwise directed by the House.—(The Earl of Crewe.)

On Question, Motion agreed to, and ordered accordingly.
