HL Deb 08 June 1899 vol 72 c617
LORD RUSSELL OF KILLOWEN

My Lords, I beg to ask the noble and learned Earl the Lord Chancellor whether Her Majesty's Government have considered and are prepared to give effect to the urgent representations made to the Lord Chancellor, by (amongst others) the Incorporated Law Society and the Council of the Bar of England, as to the necessity for the appointment of additional Judges. I hope the noble and learned Earl will find it convenient to answer the Question.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, my answer to the first part of the Question is that Her Majesty's Government have considered the Question, and, under the circumstances, they have considered it right to agree to the appointment of an additional Judge to be added to the Equity Division. House adjourned at twenty minutes before Six o'clock, till To-morrow, a quarter past Four o'clock.
