Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

* LORD MONKSWELL

, in the absence of the noble Marquess in charge of the Bill, who was, unfortunately, unable to come down to the House, moved the Second Reading? He explained that the Bill was to put Industrial and Provident Societies in the Channel Islands on the same footing as similar Societies in the United Kingdom. The Bill had come up from the Commons.

Moved, "That the Bill he now read 2a."—(The Lord Monkswell.)

Motion agreed to; Bill read 2a accordingly, and committed to a Committee of the Whole House on Thursday next.
