The LORDS COMMISSIONERS—namely, The LORD CHANCELLOR(Lord Herschell); The SECRETARY Of STATE for INDIA (The Earl of Kimberley); The FIRST LORD of the ADMIRALTY (Earl Spencer); The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (The Marquess of Ripon); and the Viscount OXENBRIDGE—being in their Robes, and seated on a Form placed between the Throne and the Woolsack, commanded the Yeoman Usher of the Black Rod (Captain Butler) to let the COMMONS know "The Lords Commissioners desire their immediate Attendance in this House, to hear the Commission read."

Who being at the Bar, with their Speaker;—A Commission for proroguing the Parliament was read by the Clerk;

After which,

THE LORD CHANCELLOR said:—

My Lords and Gentlemen,

By virtue of Her Majesty's Commission, under the Great Seal, to us and other Lords directed, and now read, we do, in Her Majesty's Name, and in obedience to Her Commands, prorogue this Parliament to Friday the fourth day of November next, to be then here holden; and this Parliament is accordingly prorogued till Friday the fourth day of November next.
