HL Deb 23 July 1891 vol 356 cc96-7

Amendments reported (according to Order).

THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (Earl CADOGAN)

My Lords, in moving that this Report be now received, I wish to ask your Lordships to be good enough to allow me to move an Amendment, although I have not been able to give notice of it. The Amendment is in Clause 3. It has been felt, although it would be in the power of the market authority to produce Returns and to secure the weighing of cattle, yet with regard to the price there appears to be no means of ascertaining exactly what the price of the various cattle sold is. I have looked into the question, and I believe it would be impossible that the clause should work as it now stands. I propose in page 2, line 1, Clause 3, to insert, after the word ("and") the following words:—("As far as the market authority can ascertain same.") I beg to move that Amendment.

Amendment agreed to.

Bill to be read 3a to-morrow.
