HL Deb 29 January 1891 vol 349 c1269
THE EARL OF BELMORE

My Lords, I beg to ask the noble Viscount the Secretary of State for India the question of which I have given notice, namely, what progress has been made with the Ordnance Survey of Ireland on the 25-inch scale; and whether any particulars with regard to counties can be given concerning it?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIA (Viscount CROSS)

My Lords, the information that I have received upon this subject is to the following effect: The Ordnance Survey of Ireland on the 25-inch scale has been in progress in the Counties of Roscommon and Galway. In the County of Roscommon, on the 31st December last, 550 square miles had been surveyed; the manuscript maps for 305 square miles have been prepared, and the maps for 52 square miles have been published. In the County of Galway considerable progress had also been made with the survey. The counties are taken up for survey in the order in which they are required by the Irish Valuation Department.

House adjourned at twenty-five minutes before Five o'clock, till To-morrow, a quarter past Ten o'clock.
