Order of the Day for the Second Reading, read.

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (The Earl of ONSLOW),

in moving that the Bill be now read a second time, said, it was introduced for the purpose of effecting the union between the Islands of Trinidad and Tobago. The Legislative Councils of both Islands had passed Resolutions in favour of their union, and this Bill was necessary to carry those Resolutions into effect.

Moved, "That the Bill be now read 2a—(The Earl of Onslow.)

Motion agreed to; Bill read 2a accordingly, and committed to a Committee of the Whole House on Thursday next.
