HL Deb 11 March 1886 vol 303 c410
VISCOUNT CRANBROOK

asked the noble Earl the Secretary of State for India, Whether he could give any information with respect to a paragraph which had appeared in the newspapers as to the peril of a beleaguered garrison near Mandalay?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE (The Earl of KIMBERLEY)

My noble Friend opposite probably refers to the Reuter telegram published in the newspapers. I have made some inquiries, and I find that the Viceroy has no reason to feel any serious anxiety on the subject.
