LORD SUDELEY

(for the Home Department) explained that there had been a meeting that morning at the Home Office, at which all the interests affected by the Bill were represented. Among others present were the Bishops of London and Peterborough, the Duke of Buckingham and Chandos, Lord Beauchamp, representatives of Queen Anne's Bounty, of the Land Commissioners, of the promoters of the Bill, and Members of the Select Committee of the other House, to which the measure had been referred. The meeting had agreed to certain Amendments as constituting a fair compromise between those who differed as to the desirability of the original provisions of the Bill.

Motion agreed to: House in Committee.

The Report of the Amendments to be received To-morrow, and Standing Order No. XXXV. to be considered in order to its being dispensed with; and Bill to be printed as amended. (No. 193.)
