My Lords, seeing my noble Friend the Secretary of State for the Colonies in his place, I wish to ask him whether he has received any confirmation of the news, which has been published in the newspapers, that Cetewayo has been defeated and wounded and many of his followers killed?

, in reply, said, that he had not received any official telegram containing an authoritative statement of the circumstances referred to; but Sir Henry Bulwer had forwarded by telegraph a statement made to him which tended to confirm the accuracy of the report.
