LORD ABERDARE

, in moving that the Bill be now read a second time, explained that the object of the measure was to give workmen, who were owed wages, a first claim upon the assets of the firm employing them, in the event of the failure of the firm.

Moved, "That the Bill be now read 2a"—(The Lord Aberdare.)

Motion agreed to; Bill read 2a accordingly, and committed to a Committee of the Whole House on Thursday next.
