HL Deb 20 April 1883 vol 278 cc719-20
VISCOUNT CRANBROOK

My Lords, I wish to ask the noble Earl the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Whether there is any intention on the part of the Government to lay upon the Table Papers relating to the advance of the Russians in Central Asia?

EARL GRANVILLE

My Lords, I have been in communication with my noble Friend the Secretary of State for India, and we do not think it would be of any advantage, or that it would be wise at the present moment, to lay Papers on the Table.
