HL Deb 13 June 1882 vol 270 cc964-5
EARL GRANVILLE

I beg to communicate to your Lordships the latest news we have from Egypt, of this day's date. The Khedive left Cairo at 10 o'clock this morning with Dervish Pasha for Alexandria. All passed off quietly. Mr. Cookson's state is satisfactory, but he is ordered complete rest. Sir Edward Malet has been instructed to follow the Khedive to Alexandria. Alexandria is quiet, and the shops are being re-opened. The Egyptian garrison there has been reinforced.

THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY

Is there any fresh intelligence respecting the movements of Arabi Pasha?

EARL GRANVILLE

None whatever.
