HL Deb 22 March 1881 vol 259 c1615
EARL CADOGAN

May I ask my noble Friend the Secretary of State for the Colonies, Whether he is in a position to give the House any information as to the negotiations in the Transvaal, a subject which at this moment is one of so much interest?

THE EARL OF KIMBERLEY

I am much obliged to my noble Friend for asking the Question. I am only able to say, speaking generally, that the statement that an arrangement has been come to is true; but I am not in a position this evening to state the details.
