HL Deb 24 February 1880 vol 250 c1277

LORD HOUGHTONmoved for a Copy of the presentment of the jury empanelled to sit on the body of William Cassidy, executed in Cheetham Prison, with respect to the admission of reporters to the prison. The noble Lord said, that it had been his intention to make some remarks as to the non-admission of reporters to witness the execution, because he thought it was injurious to the public interests; but he had been made aware that the Secretary of State for the Home Department felt some difficulty on the subject, and would try to effect some arrangement of the difficulty; and that being so, he would postpone any discussion of the question till that day week.

Motionagreed to.
