THE MARQUESS OF LANSDOWNE

inquired why the valuation limit of £10 had been raised to £15, so that a farmer whose valuation exceeded the latter amount would be debarred from participating in the assistance received by his neighbours?

THE DUKE OF RICHMOND AND GORDON

said, it was necessary to have a limit. In the first instance it was restricted to £10; but after full discussion in the House of Commons it was raised to £15.
