HL Deb 24 July 1873 vol 217 c856

Amendments reported (according to Order).

THE DUKE OF RICHMOND

moved to insert words providing that the Act should not come into operation till the 1st of January, 1874. The Bill would cause a great disturbance in the existing mode of land conveyance in Scotland, and therefore he thought that a proper amount of time should be given to persons who were in the habit of transacting land conveyancing business to prepare for the change about to be made.

THe LORD CHANCELLOR

said, he did not object to the postponement suggested by the noble Duke.

Amendment made accordingly.

Further Amendments made; Bill to be road 3a To-morrow, and to be printed as amended. (No. 238.)
