§ THE EARL OF POWIS, understanding that representations had been made to the Government in behalf of the foundation of a College or University in the Principality, or for a Parliamentary grant in aid, wished to know whether it was their intention to take any action in the matter?
§ THE MARQUESS OF LANSDOWNEsaid, an application had been made in the course of the Session to the Government for a Parliamentary grant with the view of establishing a College or University in Wales; but they had no intention of proposing a grant for that purpose. The noble Earl would not, he was sure, expect that he should on that occasion enter into the merits of the question.
