HL Deb 24 April 1871 vol 205 c1579
THE LORD CHANCELLOR

, in moving that the Bill be now read the second time, said, its object was simply to repeal a variety of Acts which were rendered entirely useless by the Act passed in 1868 with respect to the administration of oaths. A great many oaths, for which another oath had been substituted in the Act to which he referred, were required to be taken by Acts of Parliament, and these Acts had not been repealed.

Motion agreed to; Bill read 2a accordingly, and committed to a Committee of the Whole House on Thursday next.
