HL Deb 18 June 1867 vol 188 c4

(NO. 184.)—(The Lord St. Leonards.)

Commons Amendments considered (according to Order.)

LORD ST. LEONARDS

movedThat the House do agree to all the Amendments of the Commons except the Amendments to the 8th Section of the Bill as shown in the Print of the Bill with the Commons Amendments; and that the House do disagree to the said Amendments to the said 8th Section.

THE EARL OF MALMESBURY

asked what the noble and learned Lord proposed.

LORD CRANWORTH

said, the clause originally provided that the vendor might employ a person to make one bidding. The Commons altered the clause to allow the person so employed to make any number of biddings. The noble and learned Lord suggested that there should be added to the clause as amended by the Commons a proviso that such biddings should not go beyond the reserved price.

THE DUKE OF BUCKINGHAM

thought the clause ought to be printed.

Then it was moved that the further Consideration thereof be adjourned; objected to; and, on Question, Resolved in the Negative: The said Amendments further considered, and agreed to, with Amendments; and Bill, with the Amendments, returned to the Commons.
