§ LORD STANLEY OF ALDERLEYsaid, that the noble Lord the Chairman of Committees, who had reserved to himself the power of nominating the Committee, had certainly not neglected the opportunity of selecting the names of Peers favourable to his own view. He felt it necessary to give notice for Monday of the addition of four other names.
§ LORD REDESDALEdenied that the Committee was a packed one.
§ EARL GRANVILLEthought both sides of the House should have been equally represented.
§ LORD REDESDALEsaid, that nine of the Members had been taken from the Ministerial side of the House and only six from the other.
§ LORD STANLEY OF ALDERLEYwould make this compromise with the noble Lord: he would be satisfied with the addition of three names: Lord Taunton, Lord Halifax, and Lord Bessborough.
