HL Deb 19 July 1866 vol 184 c1061

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

said, that under the law as it at present stood Revising Barristers were disqualified for holding any other office under the Crown; but several of those gentlemen had been appointed Commissioners to inquire into corrupt practices at recent elections, and the Bill before the House was to enable them to retain both offices. He moved that the Bill be read a second time.

Motion agreed to: Bill read 2a, and committed to a Committee of the Whole House To-morrow.
