§ LORD CRANWORTHwished to ask the I noble and learned Lord opposite (Lord Brougham) whether it was his intention to proceed further this Session with the Bill in which he had interested himself.
LORD BROUGHAMsaid, it was not his intention to proceed further with the Bribery Bill this Session. He was bound to believe that the Members of the other House were resolved, if possible, to pre-vent bribery and corruption, and if such was their resolution they might, by a Standing Order, require every Member on taking his seat to make a declaration that his return had not been procured by corrupt means.
