HL Deb 26 March 1863 vol 169 c1917

Amendments reported (according to Order).

On Motion that the Report be agreed to,

Clause 30 (Registrar to learn and register Births and Deaths).

THE EARL OF BANDON

proposed an Amendment— Provided always that all Births and Deaths winch shall happen within the Workhouse shall be registered by the Superintendent Registrar.

THE EARL OF ST. GERMANS

said, the matter had been fully discussed in the House of Commons, and he hoped that the Amendment would not be pressed now.

After a few words from The Earl of LEITRIM.

THE EARL OF BANDON

appealed to the Government to postpone the Report, in order that he might have the opportunity of submitting his Amendment to the House at a time when it could be fully discussed.

THE EARL OF DERBY

said, that the discussion seemed to take the House somewhat by surprise; and he therefore suggested that the proposed Amendment should be moved on the third reading.

THE EARL OF BANDON

said, he would adopt the suggestion.

Motion (by leave of the House) withdrawn.

Report agreed to; and Bill to be read 3a To-morrow.
