HL Deb 19 March 1860 vol 157 c818
THE LORD STEWARD OF THE HOUSEHOLD (the Earl of St. Germans)

reported Her Majesty's Answer to the Address of Thursday last, as follows:— I thank you for your loyal and dutiful Address. It is most gratifying to Me to receive your assurance, that after having considered the Treaty of Commerce which I have concluded with the Emperor of the French, you are prepared to take steps to assist Me in carrying out a measure which is intended to promote commercial and friendly intercourse between this country and France, and to afford an additional security for the continuance of peace.
